A successful candidate will exhibit characteristics that support the following:
Safety Awareness Work Ethic Technical Skill Customer Focus Open Communication Implementing Vision and Values The Ballast Control Operator (BCO) is primarily responsible for ballast and fluid transfer operations, While ensuring and maintaining the stability of the offshore facility by monitoring other marine-related Operations, systems, equipment, and environmental conditions.
The BCO must possess and maintain A USCG BCO license.
The BCO is a motivated individual that strives to stay engaged and actively review marine operations Processes and standards to ensure continuous improvement and safe, reliable operations.
Responsibilities:
HSSE performance:
Demonstrate personal leadership in process and occupational safety at all times.
Review, understand and utilize the GoM Safe Practices Manual to control and mitigate the hazards associated with work tasks.
Ensure compliance with all Health Safety Security & Environment (HSSE) standards and Practices as defined within the Operating Management Standard (OMS).
Understand and manage operating risk to prevent accidents and harm to people, to reduce damage to the environment and achieve competitive performance.
Perform the duties of an Issuing Authority (IA) or a Performing Authority (PA) in compliance with ISSOW and according to competency level.
Production and technical integrity performance:
Responsible for marine operations and management, with particular attention to ballast and fluid transfer operations within the primary and support systems (vessel maneuvering, hull and deck management, lifting appliances, air, water, ventilation and emergency equipment and systems).
Ensure stability of the facility by completing weight shift and center of gravity calculations based on weight changes.
Provide marine input to projects and turnaround (TAR) preparation as required.
Compliance with Guidance on Certification (GoC), as required, for all maintenance work prior to operation.
Collaborate with functional support, as required, to highlight potential process safety and Operational optimization issues.
Have an awareness of performance standards and their relevance to process operations, maintenance, and performance requirements.
Ensure that maintenance routines and defects are recorded in Maximo and with the appropriate amount of detail.
Complete all planned maintenance (PM) routines to schedule and plan the appropriate procedure.
Ensure ad-hoc vendors & visitors adhere to safety standards.
Monitor, reorder and track supply levels of production chemicals, critical spares and materials.
Understand and comply with the Management of Change (MoC) process for all procedural, equipment or process changes as needed.
Ensure shift and crew-change handovers are accurately recorded in the appropriate log and in compliance with the Guidance on Shift Handovers.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-3 years of experience requiredPreferred:
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college; 3-5 years' experience preferredTraining / Competence:
Compliance with GoM competency requirements (refer to the GoM Technician Competency Matrix).
Comply with and meet regulatory competence requirements through completion.
Maintain and track learning and development through the Virtual Training Assistant (VTA) portal.
Engage and comply as required with the Competency Management Assurance Standard (CMAS).
Emergency Response:
Act as member of the emergency response team and comply with the responsibilities assigned as defined in the Emergency Response Plan.
Participate in emergency response exercises to ensure a full understanding of the process and procedures.
